HA! I haven't even broken out the shovel yet this year. Doesn't mean you shouldn't have by now. We've got people all over the city driving around with only their windshield visible where the wipers cross, everything else has about 10-15" of snow covering the vehicle. I can't believe people try and drive like that. I've also got a neighbor across the street that keeps an upstairs bedroom window open all day and night with a big boxfan in the window running. Please note that he has a box fan in his window and it's ON while it's 10 F'in degree's. I'd smell it if it was a meth lab but otherwise I have no idea what could make you want to leave a window ALL THE WAY OPEN when it's well below freezing.

Most likely hes on welfare and us tax payers are footing the bill for his heat, rent, food, cell phone and car. Drive past the projects on 18th street and you'll see all kinds of windows open. Cradle to grave government care, F it leave ALL the windows open, the heats FREE!

yes indeed gene, the only difference is that they want to find places that have 100,000 or more idiots hanging out in deep snow. lol
The idiot comment is more about myself than anyone of the other 99,999 people. I'm surprised I'm still here.

One reason why I like Seattle so much is the mild winters. We've had 1 (one) dusting this year, nothing stuck to the roads. It did drop all the way down to 28 a couple of times so far.

I don't understand... how can anyplace beat out anywhere in Alaska? I thought Alaska was covered by white powder 24/7? OR is that a Stereotype just like everyone thinks Texas is populated by Cowboys and Cattle and Oil Fields?

no bandit, you are correct. The difference is we got ALL OF OURS in a 40 day window where they have a year round amount.
Basically, depending on the year we can have heavy accumulation due to the Lake. Huge moisture source mixed with super cold fronts moving through. Basically quite a bit of the area from buffalo to erie have a strong potential to be in the running due to lake effect accumulations.

When you shovel you should give him some of you snow maybe get a snow blower and and point it at his window maybe he will close his window then lol

should be snow here, but instead it was 20 degrees two mondays ago....then 60 two fridays ago....then back to 30 last monday....now it's gonna be back in the upper 50s. A tie for a record low (from 1901?) and a record high all in the span of 3 weeks One morning the birds were all like "it's spring! chirp, chirp"....then 3 days later my car door was frozen shut from a 13 degre low at night. Climate change sucks.

OR is that a Stereotype just like everyone thinks Texas is populated by Cowboys and Cattle and Oil Fields? No exactly true- Even further North (yeah, Canadians go further North than that) in the Artic the tundra goes bare for about a 3-5 week period in July. Not much snow left, but the perma-frost is soo deep that the ground never thaws. So even if grass could grow it (longer season) it won't, the landscape always looks barren, snow just covers it up.

A snowblower is for when it's a foot deep or more, not the stuff we've been getting. Though I will admit I did break out the shovel for this latest batch of flurries. I wanted to clear the sidewalk and steps for my mailman (who's also my neighbor) and then decided to do all the rest while I was at it. Took maybe 15 minutes total. Edit: BTW, I snapped this picture yesterday when I was by downtown Chicago yesterday (sorry for the smudges on the window): Somebody was having fun in the snow.
