I'm doin' "the dolphin" on a piece of cardboard as I type this! *true story* when I was a young kid, at a high school production of "Our Town" which my sister had a leading role....I went into the bathroom during intermission and busted my chin on the hard tile floor while trying to perform "The Dolphin". It needed stiches. Good times.

Hey Guys! Sorry I'm late to the party again I'd be happy to put some guitar tracks down for you...Like a few of you I have a small home recording setup with Digital Performer 6, Kontakt Software Sampler and UAD pre/post effects and mastering plug-ins. I also have some VERY realistic drum samples via a software program called Easy Drummer so if you want to send over a midi file of the drum track, I can bounce it down to an audio track with some very realistic and pro recorded drum sounds. At the very least, I can add some extra guitar onto a drum/bass/guitar track if you send it over Equally, I'd be happy to do any editing or mixing if needed. Just let me know if there's anything I can do... Good idea guys, this is an exciting idea

OK, well I have Gene's guitar track. I have also cut it down to what I feel is a decent length. I'm a bit worried that the timing isn't going to match very well though (like the last little song we did). I'm thinking maybe I should create the drum track first, on a known measure and then let you all fill in the guitar/ bass parts.
Anyway, I'll try to put a beat to it and see what it sounds like. If it's decent I'll post it for your comments.

I will look but you could always post it on youtube, there are some really good free youtube MP3 extractors out there but it would probably be better to keep the files as raw as possible as they are going through enough conversion and compression as is.

OK I recorded a bit of conga drums for some background filler. Is anyone interested in hearing the different parts before and after we cut them all together? If so, I can post the seperate instruments and progress of the song.

either way, otherwise I'll just start laying out some basslines and send me to whomever. Lately I've been doing recording on every weekend night and some weeknights (hence why I haven't been on the ps3 as much).

I found a a cool website that allows online users to collaborate to create songs! Seems really cool, except the "private" option costs money. So, you have limited ownership with the public option...but still probably better than just posting on Youtube. If we don't use this for the OTD song, we should all sign up to create some more! You can also find other musicians around the world to collaborate with! www.kompoz.com/compose-collaborate/video.tutorial.music?videoId=1315Edit: cool! There is a message board on the site, direct email to the band members and also a place to add Videos!

If everyone who is contributing to the track has the ability to record their own parts digitally (on some form of computer software), we can all just record our tracks (while playing along to the drum track to stay in time) and then email our track back to you. Then you could email the next person on the track with the new one...does this make sense to anyone else? I don't want to dump more things on you to do here Mega, so I'd be happy to volunteer to be the 'track collector' and add people into the mix before emailing the next person...just offering I haven't yet looked at the collaboration website you mentioned Mega, but I would imagine that all the things worth using it for would be the 'private' options. Provided everyone has some software to record their own parts on top of what's already there, there shouldn't be too much loss in quality. The only problem with not all being in a room at the same time is obviously what we play is determined by what the last person put down, but that could be cool anyway. I'm not sure if I'm on the same page here...just putting my thoughts across

It would be more for us to drop tracks/overlays directly to this site without having to email. I think it's cool that you can meet other musicians and put an audition in for an instrument they are wanting to record with. There was some decent stuff on there.

I've got a nice strong beat I'm working out, just keep your pants on. I'll be sending a wav. file along with the proper tempo and BPM (beats per minute), so it should work just fine with audacity or any other recording software.
